InstructionsMilestone 6: Chapter 1Work with your chair to determine any specific instructions or guidance that he or she may have for you.Based upon the work you have done so far (topic refinement, problem statement, purpose statement, abridged literature review, and research questions), you have enough pieces to construct a first draft of your dissertation Chapter 1. More pieces will need to be included in Chapter 1 as you complete some of the methodology elements later in the process. However, you should be able to compose a document that presents the background framework for your study. The dissertation writing process is highly iterative. You’ve probably already noticed that it sometimes feels like you are writing, rewriting and refining your work. Yes, you are. As you continue through the dissertation process, you will add and refine elements to your Chapter 1.Using the Dissertation Proposal Template, synthesize your work into a single document. In completing the template, review and, as necessary, update your problem statement, purpose statement, and research questions. Although you will only use selected research from your literature review in the Chapter 1 document, be sure to preserve the literature review work you’ve done so far. You will use it and add to it as you complete Chapter 2 of the dissertation in the next course.Submission Details:Use APA style in preparing your paper and citing references.Post the paper to the Milestone 6 Submissions Area.Notify your chair (e.g., e-mail) when you have submitted the topic paper.Note: A successful dissertation requires self-directed behaviors. To successfully pass each dissertation course, you must successfully complete (pass) each milestone presented in the course materials. Additionally, you must complete the milestones in the order they are presented in the course. The tasks in some milestones may take you more than a week to complete. Finish each milestone before you move on to the next milestone. In your planning, also allow time for feedback from your dissertation chair/committee and revisions as part of completing each task.
